Anthony Browne, MP for South Cambridgeshire, has welcomed the creation of the Government’s Chalk Streams Working Group, to tackle the continued over-abstraction and water shortage problems faced in Cambridgeshire.

Anthony spoke in the House on Wednesday 30 December in the debate on new coronavirus restrictions. The full text is below: 

It is a great honour to speak after my right hon. Friend the Member for Wokingham (John Redwood) and hear his impassioned plea for a vision about life in Britain after Brexit. Let me say one thing on that.

I am extremely concerned about the impact of yet another enormous development on the character of South Cambridgeshire.  Whatever the context, a new town is both unwanted and unsustainable.

There are only three possible broad approaches to restrictions to tackle the pandemic:  

do nothing 
have national restrictions 
have localised restrictions based on the level of local infection

Anthony Browne, MP for South Cambridgeshire has welcomed the announcement of funding for a new cancer hospital to be built alongside Addenbrookes.

The Prime Minister announced £120 million in funding for the Cambridge Cancer Research Hospital (CCRH) this evening (Friday 2 October).
