MP questions head of UK Hospitality on business rents

Tuesday, 21 April, 2020

As part of the Treasury Select Committee, Anthony Browne MP continued to gather evidence on the economic impact of Coronavirus on businesses.

Questions were put to Kate Nicholls, CEO of UKHospitality, and Andy Chamberlain, Director of Policy for the Association of Independent Professionals and the Self-employed. In the clip above, Anthony questions Ms Nicholls on how tenants, particularly those hardest hit in the pub sector, can be best supported by both their landlords and the government at this time.

The Committee later took evidence from Ian Mulheirn, Executive Director of Policy at the Tony Blair Institute & Chair of Generation Rent and Dr Gerard Lyons, Senior Fellow at the Policy Exchange.

This meeting is just one of a number of virtual evidence sessions as the Committee continues its work scrutinising the government and the impact of policy.
