To South Cambridgeshire District Council, Homes England, and the Department of Health

On the urgent need for a GP Surgery in Northstowe.

We, the undersigned, hereby petition our representatives and relevant authorities to urgently address and resolve the critical issue of the absence of a dedicated GP surgery in Northstowe.

The Concern: Northstowe was envisioned and promoted as a ‘healthy town’ with wellbeing as a core aspect of its ethos and design. Residents were assured of essential local health services, including the provision of a GP surgery. This promise has been a fundamental aspect of any decision to live and invest in Northstowe. Unfortunately, this promise remains unfulfilled, causing significant concern and inconvenience to the community.

The Issue: The absence of a dedicated GP surgery in Northstowe is not just a broken promise but a considerable failure in planning. It undermines the health and wellbeing of our community, which is particularly concerning given the town's founding principles. The lack of local health services forces residents to seek medical care further afield, leading to unnecessary strain on existing services and challenges for individuals, especially the elderly and those with mobility issues.

The Petition: Despite these efforts and the allocation of millions of pounds for local facilities, the establishment of a GP surgery in Northstowe has yet to materialize. This petition urgently calls on the District Council, Homes England, the Department of Health, and all relevant parties to prioritize and expedite the establishment of a GP surgery in Northstowe. This facility is not only a necessity for our current population but is also critical for the sustainable growth and well-being of our community.

My Commitment: As MP, I am deeply invested in the development and wellbeing of Northstowe. I stand ready to support and engage in constructive dialogue to expedite the realization of a GP surgery in our town. The health and wellbeing of our community cannot be delayed any further.
